Eligibility
- Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code, educational or government.
- Priority areas for funding are programs that directly enhance quality of life or essential programs for company service territory/operation sites.
Focus Areas For Funding Considerations
- Higher education, especially areas that promote careers related to a utility's workforce
- Environmental programs that further understanding and adoption of energy conservation, and protecting community
- Programs to support basic health, safety and well-being
- Supportive of community economic development and civic activities
- Child welfare and family strengthening programs
Significant Factors In Evaluating Funding Requests
- Impact on the community and on TEP
- Employee volunteer involvement
- Number of people served, strive for broad-based community impact
- Programmatic strength and financial viability of applicant
- Partnerships that promote collaborations and avoid duplication of services
- Generally organizations will not be funded multiple times in a calendar year
Restrictions
In general the company will not contribute to the following:
- Religious, fraternal, social or veteran's organizations
- Political or partisan organizations or candidates
- Individuals
- Individual schools K-12 (all schools in TEP service area are offered safety, environmental and science related curricula and supplemental resources at no charge)
- Organizations serving people suffering from a single disease or medical condition, or for medical research
- Endowments
- Travel funds of any kind
- Adult sports
- Programs outside TEP service territory/employee community or agencies that contribute more than 10 percent of budget to outside service territory
- TEP cannot donate electricity or electric service or waive fees where others would be charged
Application Process
Requests for contributions (both financial and in-kind) must be made in writing on agency letterhead and include:
- Brief description of the project or event for which you are requesting funds, including specific objectives, expected outcomes and timetable
- The amount requested
- Size and composition of the population to be served by the program
- Name of executive director and list of current board members
- Description of how gift will be acknowledged
- Proof of tax exempt status
