Billing Guidelines
Credit PolicyWe generally do request deposits for residential service. When a security deposit is required, it will be approximately two times your estimated average monthly bill. TEP will issue you a receipt for the amount. You can redeem the deposit, along with accrued interest as approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission, 12 months after you paid it in full, unless you have been delinquent more than twice or if service has been disconnected for nonpayment. If you terminate service within the year, your deposit will be credited toward your final bill.
Waiver of Deposit Requirements If you can produce a letter of credit/verification from another utility company which states the customer has had service of a comparable nature with that utility within the past two (2) years and was not delinquent in payment more than twice during the last twelve (12) months, or was not disconnected for non-payment your deposit will be waived once we have received the letter of credit. You can request that this be faxed to 520-917-8455.
We review your account periodically, and reserve the right to adjust the deposit based upon your actual electricity use.
Monthly BillYour monthly bill statement reflects the amount of electricity your household consumed during the billing cycle. It also shows the number of days of service in the billing period and the date that the meter was read. If we are unable to read your meter on the scheduled date, we will bill you an estimated amount that is computed from your account's historical data. If we estimate your bill, we will print the numeral "2" in the code column on the front right-hand side of the bill.
Unlike most other things you buy, you pay for electricity after you've used it. That's why we ask you to pay your bill within 10 working days of the date we mail it.
RatesThe Arizona Corporation Commission regulates TEP's electricity rates, which vary based on customer criteria. Most of our residential customers are under Residential Rate No. 1. TEP's rates are listed under Tariffs.
