Similar to a signing ceremony for college athletes, Pima Community College hosted a “signing day” for hundreds of new students committed to technical studies and careers – and TEP was there in support.

TEP employees Jamie Carpenter, Jennifer Cox and Yaritza Santiago were recognized during the National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Letter of Intent Signing Day event at Pima on Feb. 17. After a ceremony, TEP staffed a table to promote company careers and our preparation programs.

“TEP is honored to be one of several industry partners committed to helping students prepare for careers in high skilled technical areas,” Capenter said.

TEP partnered with Pima College and Southwest Gas to offer the Energy Technology Certificate program, in which students earn credentials and training for a variety of utility careers.  Several of the energy utility courses are held on site at TEP and taught by industry experts. The courses offer real-world experiences for students and feature hands-on learning.

At the event, Pima College honored more than 500 students, who signed pledges to pursue careers in technical fields. Pima’s event was tied to the National Coalition of Certification Centers, which launched such ceremonies seven years ago to honor students entering technical fields.

This is one way that TEP supports education and career preparation in our community. For more information about our efforts, visit https://www.tep.com/education/
