Economic Development

TEP welcomes Involta, LLC , which is bringing a state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot Tier III data center to Tucson – the first of its kind in the region.

The new development will boost the community’s Information Technology capacity – and, specifically, its data infrastructure – a vital component to attracting, expanding and creating new opportunities in Tucson’s key industry sectors: aerospace and defense, bioscience, solar, and transportation and logistics.

The high-security facility will house mission critical computer systems and related components for healthcare organizations, businesses, government and educational institutions nationwide. Its multi-tenant design means significant cost and efficiency advantages for businesses and customers from Tucson, Phoenix and Southern California.

Bruce Lehrman, CEO of Involta, recognized Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities (TREO) and the Tucson Chamber of Commerce for helping to make the project a reality, and called Tucson Electric Power a “valuable strategic partner on the project”.

He added: “The team at TEP understood our objectives and helped create a business opportunity that will benefit economic development for the entire community”.

The $15 million facility is expected to open in December.
