TEP, Navopache Electric Co-op Sign 25-year Wholesale Power Contract

Tucson, Ariz. — Tucson Electric Power (TEP) has reached a long-term agreement to supply Navopache Electric Cooperative with wholesale power beginning next year.

TEP will begin delivering power on Jan. 1, 2017 to satisfy Navopache’s energy requirements through a 25-year agreement signed last month. TEP also will provide ancillary services that support the transmission of electric power and help ensure service reliability.

Navopache is a nonprofit member-owned distribution cooperative that provides electric service to more than 33,000 members and manages more than 43,400 meters throughout the White Mountains in eastern Arizona and western New Mexico. Its service territory covers more than 10,000 square miles and includes more than 3,500 miles of power lines. Arizona communities served by Navopache include St. Johns, Pinetop-Lakeside, Show Low, Heber-Overgaard and Springerville — home to TEP’s Springerville Generating Station.

“We’re proud to be selected as Navopache Electric Cooperative’s wholesale energy provider, and we look forward to reliably supplying power for many years to come,” said David G. Hutchens, TEP’s President and CEO. “Hundreds of TEP employees live in communities served by Navopache, so this partnership is a natural fit for us.”

“Navopache is very pleased with our selection of TEP as our wholesale power supplier,” said Charles R. Moore, Navopache’s CEO. “We are excited to develop this partnership with TEP for a long-term wholesale power supply that allows Navopache to provide our member-consumers with reliable and cost-effective electric service to help promote economic benefit to the communities we serve.”
