Business customers can take advantage of hot deals to cool down during Tucson Electric Power’s summer promotion.
Through August, TEP is increasing rebates for select upgrades by up to 50 percent of the incremental cost of choosing an energy-efficient option. This reduces the up-front expense of projects that can generate long-term energy cost savings.
“We’re pleased to offer these savings to our customers right when the weather is heating up,” said Jessica Vega, TEP Senior Program Manager of Commercial Energy Efficiency Programs and Services. “These products will offer some relief from the heat, as well as electric bills.”
Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Some of the rebates include:
Air conditioning, heating and ventilation: Savings can range from $135 to $550 per unit, depending on the size and type of product. Rebates usually are up to $260 per unit.
Programmable thermostats: Rebates of up to $130 each, compared to $40.
Shade screens: Rebates of $2 per square foot, instead of $1.
Strip curtains: Rebate of $5 per square foot, compared to $2.50. Strip curtains commonly are used for walk-in refrigerators to trap in the cold air.
The increased rebates are available through TEP’s EasySave program for smaller commercial customers and the EasySave Plus program for larger commercial customers.
During the summer promotion, EasySave customers also will receive an additional $40 in savings to help cover the costs of applying for the program.
“We hear from our smaller customers that it takes time and effort to fill out the paperwork for our program. This is one way that we are helping our customers cover some of those costs,” Vega said.
In addition to the summer promotion, TEP provides rebates for other energy-efficiency improvements, including lighting, motors and compressors.
