Transimission Line Projects

DeMoss Petrie to Tucson

Increased electrical system reliability.

The Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee voted unanimously to allow construction of a new transmission line along a route preferred by TEP customers.

System Improvements

TEP is building a new transmission line to link the DeMoss Petrie (DMP) substation near Interstate 10 and West Grant Road to the Tucson substation near West 5th Street and North 11th Avenue. The new line will add 138,000 volts of transmission capability between these substations, increasing electrical system reliability throughout the Tucson area.

Construction of the line will begin in February 2014 and continue through the end of the year.

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) has approved construction of the project along the route recommended by both TEP and area residents who participated in the planning process. The so-called Freeway Route had previously been approved by the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee.
