Kino to DeMoss-Petrie 138 Kilovolt Transmission Line
This project is no longer active. Please click here for information about the proposed Midtown Reliability Project, which includes a proposed transmission line connecting the Kino and DeMoss Petrie (DMP) Substations. The following information about TEP's former Kino-DMP Transmission Line Project is out of date but remains accessible for archival purposes.
This proposed line was to connect TEP's Kino Substation near South Kino Boulevard and East 36th Street to our DeMoss-Petrie Substation near East Grant Road and Interstate 10, with an interconnection at the planned Vine Substation north of the University of Arizona's main campus.
In August 2021, TEP filed an application with the ACC for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) for this project. That application was later withdrawn to allow more time for collaboration with the City of Tucson and other stakeholders. That collaboration produced Proposition 412, a measure that would have funded underground installation of a portion of this project. City of Tucson voters rejected this proposal in May 2023.
Please visit this link for information about the Vine Substation Project, which previously was named the UA North Substation.
