Small General Service Electric Vehicle Charging Plan

Our Small General Service (SGS) Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Plan is designed for new, stand-alone direct current (DC) fast-charging stations that are just getting started on the road to EV charging.

The rate does not include a demand charge.

How does the Stand-Alone Electric Vehicle Charging Plan work?

This rate schedule is available to all commercial customers that require service for electric vehicle charging stations that are separately metered from other facilities on the same premises. Resale of energy for the use of electric vehicle charging is allowed.

Service is provided under TEP’s Small General Service Time-of-Use (TOU) rate but allows usage up to 50,000 kilowatt hours (kWh). Normally, the SGS TOU rate allows usage up to 24,000 kWh.

This plan includes higher “on-peak” rates during periods when most customers use more energy and lower “off-peak” rates during lower energy use times. The plan rewards customers with lower rates for shifting their energy usage away from on-peak hours.

What are the potential advantages of this plan?

Customers on this plan have more control over their energy costs. Usage during off-peak and super off-peak hours could reduce your monthly bills.

The more you are able avoid using energy during on-peak hours, the more you can save. Your savings will be based on your actual usage and patterns.

What are the potential disadvantages of this plan?

If usage exceeds 50,000 kWh in two consecutive months, or a customer has taken service under this plan for 7 years, service will be provided under TEP’s Stand-Alone Electric Vehicle Charging Plan or any applicable rate plans for medium or large commercial customers. This pricing plan will be available until June 30, 2031.

To sign up, commercial customers should contact their key or commercial account manager, or call Customer Care at 520-623-7711.
