Summer Disconnection Moratorium

Tucson Electric Power does not disconnect residential electric service for non-payment from June 1 through Oct. 15. This moratorium, established by the Arizona Corporation Commission, is intended to protect public safety through the hot summer season.

Customers must still pay for service during this period and could be subject to late fees and possible disconnection later for failing to pay. That’s why we always encourage customers not to skip any payments throughout these months, since they may accumulate a large balance that will be hard to pay when cooler weather resumes.

TEP will create payment plans for residential customers with overdue balances after Oct. 15 to provide additional time and a manageable, structured way to pay down balances.

If you’re having trouble paying your bill, please call TEP Customer Care at 520-623-7711 so we can work through a solution together. Customers may be eligible for payment extensions, enrollment in short-term assistance and bill discount programs for qualifying low-income households. You also might consider other helpful programs, such as Budget Billing, which allows you to pay the same amount each month by dividing your estimated annual expenses into 12 equal monthly amounts.
