Fleet Advisory Services

TEP is committed to supporting fleet customers on their unique transportation electrification journeys. Aligned with this commitment, TEP has enlisted DNV as a contractor to support customers with fleet advisory services, including an online total cost of ownership tool and detailed custom fleet analyses and electrification plans.

Custom Fleet Analysis Program

This program provides participating customers the opportunity to learn about fleet vehicle electrification opportunities and potential operating cost savings through an in-depth analysis of current fleet vehicles, vehicle operations, and existing facility infrastructure. Participation in the program is expected to provide your organization with the tools you’ll need to launch or refine your fleet electrification journey.

DNV will custom tailor the analysis to your organization’s specific needs through data collection and discovery meetings with designated stakeholders in your organization. Your personalized results are expected within 10-12 weeks, with multiple touchpoints with the DNV team along the way.

TEP is sponsoring 80 percent of the cost of custom fleet advisory services for a limited number of fleets.  Each fleet participating will receive a detailed report from DNV that will serve as a roadmap for fleets, including:

  1. A fleet assessment:
    • Vehicle-by-vehicle level EV conversion options
    • Short- and long-term electrification plan based on ease of electrification
    • Total cost of ownership (TCO) comparison for EVs versus current fleet vehicles, inclusive of vehicle capital, maintenance, and fuel costs
    • Average greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions
    • Detailed TCO table detailing vehicle-by-vehicle breakdowns of capital costs, fueling costs, maintenance costs, and any applicable rebates/incentives/tax credits
  2. A charging infrastructure strategy:
    • Evaluation of facility charging needs based on the fleet assessment
    • Charging infrastructure recommendations, including charger type and quantity, based on the identified short- and long-term electrification plan
    • Estimated transition costs and cost mitigation strategies, including opportunities for managed charging

Program Details

To facilitate the program, DNV will request your active participation. Specifically, DNV requests:

  1. A senior fleet decision-maker to act as an executive sponsor to champion and support your organization’s participation in the program
  2. Assignment of a knowledgeable fleet representative to provide necessary fleet vehicle information and relevant vehicle usage data
  3. Identification of other key stakeholders to actively participate in meetings/discussions and who can address information gaps or questions that arise
  4. Information on fleet vehicles and fleet depots including, but not limited to:
    • Fleet Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) for participating vehicles
    • Vehicle usage/operation requirements (e.g. miles driven, towing needs, hauling capacity, “right-sizing” opportunities, days/times operated, take home vehicles, telematics data (where available) etc.)
    • Facility usage patterns (e.g. regular parking areas, existing electrical connections, etc.)
    • Operations, maintenance, and fuel costs as available; and,
    • Regular route details for vehicles such as buses or refuse trucks

DNV will utilize industry averages and assumptions where data is not available, so your active participation helps ensure more customized results.
