Saguaro to Marana 115/138 Kilovolt Transmission Line Project

Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO) are working on new electrical infrastructure to serve the Town of Marana and surrounding area. The Saguaro to Marana 115/138- Kilovolt (kV) Transmission Line Project will strengthen electric reliability and add transmission capacity to serve customers’ growing energy needs.

The Arizona Power Plant & Transmission Line Siting Committee granted Arizona Electric Power Cooperative’s application for a certificate of environmental compatibility (CEC) in June 2022. The Arizona Corporation Commission voted in July 2022 to approve the order granting the CEC.

TEP’s new 138 kV transmission line will connect TEP’s existing transmission systems with its planned Grier Substation, which will be located south of West Marana Road, between  North Sanders and North Wentz roads. The substation is expected to be in-service in 2028.
