A new giraffe has arrived at the Reid Park Zoo. But this one won’t be participating in feeding time.

Tucson Electric Power’s Fabrication Weld team crafted a 9-foot, 11-inch tall giraffe sculpture made of one-quarter inch round steel bar to donate to the zoo for its festive nighttime events.

Adorned with lights, the giraffe will be incorporated into the zoo’s nighttime events, including Zoo Lights during the holiday season, starting Dec. 3.

Each year, the team makes and donates a steel sculpture for the zoo. Last year, it was a hippo and the previous year, they made an alligator.
