Lawrence Lucero to Oversee Customer Programs, Services for UNS Companies

Tucson, Ariz. – Lawrence T. Lucero has been named Senior Director of Customer Programs and Services for UniSource Energy Corporation (NYSE: UNS) and its subsidiaries, Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and UniSource Energy Services (UES).

Lucero will oversee customer service, business development, marketing and communications along with the companies’ expanding renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.

“Over the past two decades, Larry has earned widespread respect for his integrity, work ethic and commitment to our company and our community,” UniSource Energy President David Hutchens said. “He’s well-suited for his new mission of ensuring that we remain focused on meeting the needs of our customers.”

Lucero, 58, has overseen the company’s relationships with government officials and agencies since 1995. He joined TEP in 1992 as an economic development administrator after working nearly 10 years for Pima County, where he managed economic development programs and community service efforts.

Lucero’s new responsibilities include areas previously overseen by Steven W. Lynn, who retired at the end of 2011 as Vice President and Chief Customer Officer. Lynn has been retained to serve as a consultant to the company on various issues.

Joe Salkowski will succeed Lucero as Manager of Government Relations. Salkowski, 41, has managed external and internal communications for UniSource Energy and its subsidiaries while serving as the company’s principal spokesman. Salkowski will report to Philip J. Dion, Vice President of Public Policy, who is responsible for the company’s regulatory and legislative strategy and policies at the federal, state and local levels.

“Joe is an effective communicator with a deep, broad knowledge of our company and the community we serve, making him a valuable resource for government officials who need information about our company and our industry,” Dion said.

UniSource Energy is a Tucson, Arizona-based company with consolidated assets of approximately $3.9 billion. UniSource Energy’s primary subsidiaries include Tucson Electric Power, which serves more than 403,000 customers in southern Arizona, and UniSource Energy Services, provider of natural gas and electric service for about 237,000 customers in northern and southern Arizona.
