Tucson, Ariz. – Tucson Electric Power (TEP) is accepting nominations for the fourth annual TEP BrightEE Awards, which recognize customers and contractors who participated in the company’s cost-effective energy efficiency (EE) programs that help customers to save energy and limit the need for new energy resources.
BrightEE (pronounced ‘brighty’) awards will be presented in March 2017 to TEP customers who have reduced their energy use and lowered their monthly electric bills. Participation in at least one TEP EE program is necessary to be eligible for a BrightEE Award. Nominations are being accepted in several award categories that include:
- Commercial Contractor
- Residential Contractor
- Government Facility or Entity
- Large Business
- Small Business
- School or School District
- Nonprofit Organization
- Professional Business Organization
- Demand Response
- Homebuilder
- Lifetime Contribution to Residential Energy Efficiency
TEP’s customer-funded EE programs are reviewed and approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission. The programs have been proven to be cost-effective for all customers – not just those who participate – by reducing TEP’s long-term need for new energy resources. TEP’s EE programs have produced significant environmental benefits by helping customers to save more than 812,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) – enough energy to power nearly 82,000 homes for a year. These savings help TEP work toward the goals in Arizona’s Energy Efficiency Standard, which calls on utilities to achieve cumulative energy savings of 22 percent by 2020. Participation helps to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, resulting in reduced air emissions and water usage.
