Tucson, Ariz. – Tucson Electric Power (TEP) is encouraging eligible educators to sign up for a smart thermostat at no cost during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 8-12.

Teachers, bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, counselors and other school employees can claim a smart thermostat through the TEP Marketplace. Participants must be a TEP customer to receive a thermostat. The offer is only available while supplies last.

Smart thermostats can ‘learn’ user preferences to help customers save energy and money. TEP is offering the thermostats just in time for summer, when customers typically use more energy and see higher bills.

“When community partners help our educational community, we all benefit,” said Dustin J. Williams, Pima County School Superintendent. “Super proud of TEP for offering these more advanced thermostats at no cost for our educators.”

TEP advises participants to make sure the model they select is compatible with their existing heating and air conditioning system. Assistance in deciding which thermostat to order and other questions may be directed to (855) 393-9717.

TEP provides safe, reliable electric service to more than 442,000 customers in Southern Arizona. For more information, visit tep.com. TEP and its parent company, UNS Energy, are subsidiaries of Fortis Inc.
