Unlike traditional power plants, solar arrays and wind farms don’t operate on demand. This means they might not be producing energy when customers want to use it. While energy storage systems are being built to address this need, we can take steps right now to take advantage of clean energy resources when they’re most plentiful.
More than 6,900 customers participated in nine “events,” collectively saving enough energy to power the equivalent of roughly 2,300 homes.
The shift is expected to reduce fuel and maintenance costs by more than $1 million over 10 years with even greater future savings.
