Volunteer cleanup of bike park

Nearly a dozen TEP employee volunteers and their family members have joined members of the Sonoran Desert Mountain Bicyclists to ready a site for the future 100-Acre Wood Bike Park at the corner of Alvernon and Golf Links.

Volunteers picked up enough debris on May 18 to fill a full-sized dumpster and helped clear and build trails.

Southern Arizona’s first mountain bike park is being developed through a collaborative partnership with the City of Tucson and Davis Monthan Air Force Base. The park is a grassroots community effort supported by donations, sponsorships, grants, in-kind services and volunteer labor.

When the park is completed in the next two years, it will feature several skills flow trails for bikes, pump tracks, expo and kids’ areas and a parking lot.
