Visitors can pick up some home improvement and energy tips in between sampling foods from around the globe during Tucson Meet Yourself from Oct. 4-6.
A house-like structure within the Tucson Meet Yourself “Folklife Here” display will be Powered by TEP, inviting guests to explore energy saving tips and options. The home also will feature folklife expressions, including displays of barbershop customs and women composers of Mexican corridos.
“The display will represent a traditional Tucson home so it aligns perfectly with our efforts to demonstrate how customers can make small changes to be more energy efficient,” said America Miranda, TEP Program Manager for Energy Programs.
TEP will hold two Home Energizer Workshops in which visitors can hear from experts about ways to save at home and receive some energy-efficient items. The workshops are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday.
TEP’s pavilion will close each day at 6 p.m.
Along with our display, TEP volunteers will be stationed throughout the grounds during the weekend. Volunteers will be selling beverages, supporting booths, and assisting with the ground crew.
TEP has ties to the organization through our volunteers and employee Teresa Bravo, who is Secretary of the Southwest Folklife Alliance Board of Directors. The alliance organizes and runs the annual festival.
