Hiking When you live in a place that's this stunning, you’re called to explore. Tucson has hundreds of trails, from urban trails to cool desert canyons to mountaintop trails that spill into the desert from higher, lush elevations. Grab a good pair of boots, a backpack and some water bottles. Some vistas are calling.
Cycling Tucson is consistently ranked among the best cycling cities in the U.S. About 9,000 cyclists participate each year in El Tour de Tucson, but we also feature cycle-focused festivals such as Cyclovia, as well as other challenges and tours. For those who prefer their fresh air on two wheels, The Loop is more than 130 miles of car-free trails and paths that connects the metro Tucson area.

University of Arizona Years before Arizona was a state, the UA’s first graduating class in 1895 consisted of three students. Today, the school is a leading research institution and one of the nation’s top public universities, with about 45,000 students, two independently accredited medical schools and a reputation for innovation.
