Springerville Employee Enjoys Connections and Community
Every Monday, Chellsey C. embarks on a routine of making a to-do list, then she checks off her tasks throughout the week.
By Friday, she feels a sense of achievement.
“That’s what I like the most – getting things accomplished while helping the person who asked for the job,” said Chellsey.
Her organizational skills have served her well at Springerville Generating Station, where she has worked for more than seven years.
For most of her tenure, Chellsey used her accounting background as a Lead Business Analyst. More recently, Chellsey transitioned to a new role in Strategic Communications, strengthening connections between departments and employees at the power plant.
In high school in Safford, Chellsey knew she wanted to be an accountant, as she excelled in math, numbers and business. Chellsey took classes at Eastern Arizona College and Arizona State University before finishing her bachelor’s degree at Grand Canyon University, where she later earned her Masters of Business Administration.
While living in the Phoenix area, she and her husband longed for small-town living and started searching for jobs elsewhere. Chellsey always wanted to reside in the Springerville area – and she got the job.
Chellsey immediately enjoyed the “fun environment” with colleagues who got along well. “It’s part of the culture at SGS. Everyone knows everyone. I really liked the work, but the people were a big part of it,” Chellsey said.
In the community, Chellsey is a member of the Community Action Team. She and her husband are involved in youth sports, both serving on the Youth Basketball Committee and Youth Baseball Committee. She has also coached basketball, baseball and soccer.
