Volunteers sprinted through sprays of multi-colored powders to raise money for charity at the Family Fun Rainbow Run.

TEP sponsored spots at the Feb. 15 run, organized by Big Hearts Committee of the Arizona Multihousing Charitable Foundation. The funds benefit Our Family Services, Tucson Homeless Connect and the Julie Hurst Scholarship Fund.

About 20 TEP volunteers participated in the family-friendly event at Reid Park. As participants jogged and walked through the park, they were sprinkled with colored powder at different stations, creating a vibrant look at the end of the event.

Jessica Hayes, TEP’s Supervisor of Analytics Technology, organized TEP’s volunteers as a board member for Our Family Services. The organization has a mission to eliminate homelessness and strengthen the community by providing support to youth and families.

“This was an exciting and energetic event,” Hayes said. “Everyone participating had fun with the colors and their decorated shirts by the end of the walk. It was great to see all ages participating.”

This story is part of our ongoing series highlighting one of TEP’s philanthropic focus areas – community assistance. TEP works with non-profit partners to develop invitation-based donation requests for education efforts from January-March. Funds come from corporate resources, not customers’ rates. Learn more about donations.
