New Construction Program

TEP’s New Construction Program is designed to provide customers with incentives for constructing energy-efficient buildings.

Whole Building Design

Rebates are available for commercial customers with projects that integrate high-performance design into new buildings and demonstrate it through energy simulation modeling. Incentives are available only for projects that are at least 10% more energy efficient than the baseline building standards established in ASHRAE 90.1-2010 Standards, Appendix G. Applicants are required to implement energy simulation model software capable of performance analysis on an hourly basis. Software options include eQUEST, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, Energy-Pro or DOE 2-based analysis software. Other simulation modeling software may be used with prior program team approval.

Systems Approach

Rebates are available for customers with less-complex projects that incorporate energy efficiency later in the design phase or if their systems are designed in different phases. The Systems Approach does not require whole-building models to be created and encourages designers to optimize the energy efficiency of individual systems within a building. Incentives are available for lighting power density and HVAC (electric) upgrades. Worksheets for these incentives are included in the program application.
