Rosemont 138 kV

Project contingent on mine approval.

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) voted unanimously in May 2012 to allow construction of a new transmission line to serve the proposed Rosemont Copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains southeast of Tucson.

Due to delays to the development of the proposed mine, in 2022 TEP requested, and the Arizona Corporation Commission approved, a seven-year extension of the original Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) authorizing construction of the transmission line before June 2029.

In 2023, TEP requested an amendment to the CEC removing specific requirements of Condition 23 of the original CEC that were now obsolete.  The Arizona Corporation Commission reviewed and approved the amended CEC in May 2023.
